Project “Neolithic Village”

In Macedonia and Skopje there are few archaeological locations that are open for the public with their significance and location. The Neolithic settlement of Tumba Madzari in the municipality of Gazi Baba in Skopje is an archaeological location that can become accessible to the public due to its scholarly and cultural significance and location, for scholarly, educational and tourist purposes.

The Museum of Macedonia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the municipality of Gazi Baba, is planning to prepare and present a project called “Neolithic Village” at the Neolithic settlement of Tumba Madžari.

For year 2008, besides the archaeological excavations, within the financial programme, a reconstruction of a Neolithic house is planned. Parallelly to this, the fence around the location, devastated in the past years, will be reconstructed; a small temporary hut will be built for the needs of the archaeological team; information boards to find the location will be placed.
